A Balancing Act

I have never had a solo exhibition of my paintings before and didn’t quite realize all the extra detailing that goes into getting everything ready! The first thing I had to do was go back and ‘wrap’ the paintings around the side edges as I had painted only on the front surface. This means to continue the painting concept design on the sides, which means matching the colors… : /!

Next, my son-in-law Stephen and daughter, Valarie, attached all the hanging wires to the back of almost thirty paintings with screws; another huge task! And finally, applying the finishing varnish with a brush to put a nice gloss to each one. After one time of getting a terrible headache, I did find a new use for my KN95 mask to keep from gassing myself wth the varnish fumes! I only have the largest paintings left to finish up.

Here’s me trying to move one of the larger canvases out to the garage to vanish. When I have to use my good hand for driving my wheelchair, it’s a balancing act using my forehead and wrist with a hope to goodness I don’t run into something or drop it!
